2025 Season Recap

2025 Season Recap

Welcome to the recap page for the 2025 Formula One Season. Use this as a reminder of everything that happened last season! We've split the page by team and recapped key races in the championship.

McLaren

2025 has been a season to remember for McLaren, winning a significant number of races and having a competitive car for both of their drivers. They won the Constructors' championship by almost 400 points and Lando Norris won the driver's championship, although this was taken to an all-important season finale at Abu Dhabi. McLaren's best race in 2025 was the Austrian Grand Prix, where Lando Norris led Oscar Piastri for a 1-2 finish for the team. This showed the dominance of McLaren's 2025 car, as well as their benefits for degredation. However, McLaren's season will also be remembered for the inter-team battles, and the team's issues with being unable and unwilling to choose a number 1 driver. This led to many race and season-changing calls, such as asking Lando Norris to give the win to Oscar Piastri in Hungary.

Mercedes

Mercedes had a mixed season for 2025. George Russell picked up 2 wins for the team, which was well celebrated in a season of McLaren and Max Verstappen dominating the majority of races. Kimi Antonelli struggled with the car in many races but was also able to pick up podiums and significant points for the team. Mercedes were also able to effectively capitalise on the poor races for other teams, holding their positions and picking up more points. The best race for Mercedes in 2025 was the Canadian Grand Prix, where new updates to the rear suspension allowed Russell to extract the maximum pace out of the car. Kimi Antonelli also had a standout race in Las Vegas, winning a podium and showing his true potential in a mixed rookie season. Mercedes were also able to benefit with 2 good cars, allowing them to win points over Red Bull Racing consistently.

Red Bull Racing

Red Bull had many positive moments in a season where Max Verstappen took Second place in the Championship. However, the team was still plagued with second-car issues and unreliability, which significantly cost their performance in the Constructors' championship. Yuki Tsunoda finished the 2025 season in 17th, picking up only 33 points across the season. This allowed both Mercedes and McLaren to pick up valuable points over Red Bull, even though Max Verstappen won 8 Grand Prix across the season. Red Bull Racing's best race was a dominant victory for Max Verstappen in Azerbaijan. Also showing the strength of the driver-car combination that Red Bull have was the Brazilian grand Prix, where Max Verstappen achieved a podium finish from the pit lane.

Ferrari

Ferrari's 2025 season was highly anticipated, with it being Lewis Hamilton's first season for the team, leaving Mercedes after 14 years. Ferrari were not able to pick up any wins in 2025, but were able to pick up several podium finishes and fourth places, meaning they weren't too far away from Red Bull Racing at the end of the season. Charles Leclerc picked up 7 podiums for Ferrari across the season. However, Lewis Hamilton struggled significantly, not being able to win any podiums in the full Grand Prix, and explaining how such a big change to his Formula One career stalled his progress and caused struggles throughout the season. The best race for Ferrari would be the Monaco Grand Prix, with Charles Leclerc winning P2 at his home race. Also significant was the sprint race at the Chinese Grand Prix, as Lewis Hamilton won the race, and Ferrari's first win in sprint format.
